The 48th/150th: Getting Photographs Taken In Lexington

The photographers of Lexington, Kentucky, no doubt enjoyed the presence of the 48th Pennsylvania in their city during the summer of 1863. It would seem that during their five month stay in the city, many--if not most--of the regiment made their way to the studios of either the Elrod Brothers or W.R. Phipps and had their photographs taken.

The following are some of the images of some of the 48th Pennsylvania soldiers taken in Lexington during the summer of 1863.

(I have not been able to positively identify this soldier as 48th PA, but with that jacket, hat, and bowtie, there is a good chance he belonged to the regiment)
