The photographers of Lexington, Kentucky, no doubt enjoyed the presence of the 48th Pennsylvania in their city during the summer of 1863. It would seem that during their five month stay in the city, many--if not most--of the regiment made their way to the studios of either the Elrod Brothers or W.R. Phipps and had their photographs taken.
The following are some of the images of some of the 48th Pennsylvania soldiers taken in Lexington during the summer of 1863.
